Interoperability CadnaA - CadnaB

A building modeled in CadnaB can be positioned in a CadnaA model with just a few clicks to calculate the level in front of the façade. This procedure can be used

  • when using the ISO 12354 calculation standard for calculating the interior level or
  • to check the requirements when using the calculation standard DIN 4109.

Note

Receiving points do not have to be generated manually and no manual transfer of rating levels or sound pressure levels is required.

Procedure

The procedure regarding the interoperability between CadnaA and CadnaB for the determination of sound levels in front of the façade is similar, the difference lies in the selection of the calculation standard. The internal data processing differs and is described in Implementation of Interoperability. Both use cases can be realized as described below:

  1. Model, calculate and save a project in CadnaB. It is necessary to have calculation results in the CadnaB file.

  2. Create or load a CadnaA model. Select the object "CadnaA Building" from the toolbox and place it at the desired position in the project.

  3. Open the „CadnaB Building“ dialog in CadnaA and select the previously created CadnaB file by clicking on the folder icon behind "File:" and confirm twice with OK.

  4. The „CadnaB Building“ appears with its building envelope in the CadnaA project and can be moved and rotated there in the model as desired.

  5. In CadnaA, under Calculation | Options for CadnaB Interop, the evaluation parameter and variant to be transferred to CadnaB during synchronization can be selected.

  6. Start CadnaA calculation. The determined levels can be checked on the façade of the CadnaB Building in the CadnaA 3D-View.

  7. In the dialog of the CadnaB building in CadnaA the levels can be transferred from CadnaA to CadnaB via Sync A → B.

  8. The determined values are automatically transferred to the CadnaB project as noise levels and assigned to the façade walls according to the respective systematics depending on the set calculation standard (see Implementation of Interoperability). The noise levels are named according to the respective façade walls. An assignment number is automatically stored in the design data of the noise levels under "Supplementary information", which should not be deleted.
