Insert Bitmaps

By default, CadnaA does not save the bitmaps in the cna-file but refers to the bitmap files with their file name and paths. If you now shift your project cna-file and the bitmap into a different folder on your hard drive, CadnaA will find the bitmap if the cna-file and the bitmaps file are in the same folder.

There are several ways to insert bitmaps into a project file:

  • via the table (menu Tables|Other Objects|Bitmap)
  • with the toolbox icon and
  • by importation via File|Import (see Import Bitmap) or ODBC interface.

The latter procedure is useful when having a list with the their corner coordinates of the bitmaps. In that case all bitmaps will be imported and placed in the CadnaA graphics automatically (see Database Import (ODBC & XLSX)).

Proceed as follows to enter a new bitmap:

  • Select the symbol „Bitmap“ from the toolbox and draw an arbitrary sized frame.

If no bitmap has been inserted yet, a frame with the following bitmap symbol appears. When there was already a bitmap present, the second and further bitmap frames receive the settings of the latter one.

  • Click with the right mouse key on the border of the frame to open the edit dialog.
  • After clicking the folder icon on the right side of the „File“ box, select the bitmap file.

Note

How to use relative file paths see Chapter 9 - Bitmaps.

Alternatively, insert a bitmap file via Table|Other Objects|Bitmap. Furthermore, bitmaps can be imported from WMS-Server, from GoogleMaps or from GoogleEarth (see Import Bitmap).

Option „Bitmap embedded in cna-file“: With this option active, the selected bitmap file is saved upon the next save operation within the CadnaA file. The „Save Bitmap File“ symbol at the end of the line is only available when a bitmap has been loaded via the „File“ line and has been saved at least once to a CadnaA file. After this, the bitmap file embedded in the CadnaA file can be saved separately using this button. This feature enables to extract embedded bitmap files and to save them in a separate file.
