CadnaB Building

The “CadnaB Building” object is a special object that is used for data exchange between CadnaA and CadnaB. The object acts both as a source and as an obstacle with the following properties:

  • After establishing a link to a CadnaB project, the results calculated in CadnaA can be used for calculation of the indoor level in CadnaB.
  • Furthermore, the “CadnaB Building” itself can act as a sound-emitting building radiating into its surroundings in CadnaA. This requires that calculated CadnaR project within the referenced CadnaB project.
  • In both of these situations, the “CadnaB Building” also acts as an obstacle using the geometry specified in CadnaB and taking into account the building‘s height specified in CadnaB based on the storey heights.

Limitations

Roof areas of buildings are - for the time being - not part of the transmission calculation, i.e. neither sources for building radiation, nor facade points are created at those surfaces.

Procedure

The procedure consists of the following main points:

  • input of the building‘s geometry in CadnaB (one project per building)
  • importing this geometry into CadnaA by assigning a CadnaB project file via the “CadnaB Building” object
  • calculation of the facade levels or building radiation using CadnaA.
  • export of the calculation results from CadnaA to CadnaB.

Dialog options

CadnaA Building dialog

Name, Memo-Window, ID, ObjectTree

see Dialog Options Name, ID, INFO, ObjectTree, Master in the manual "Introduction to CadnaA"

File

Select via the file selector symbol the CadnaB file to be used for data exchange.

Reflection

see Chapter 3 - Obstacles, Reflection Properties

Consider that reflections at the surface of the “CadnaB Building” object are only generated provided at least the first reflection order is set in the calculation configuration, “Reflection” tab (see Reflection Tab).

Land Use

see Receiver, Specifying Limiting Values

Note

NOTE: This feature is not used for the time being.

Operating Time

see Common Input Data, Specifying Limiting Values

This option is only relevant when the CadnaB Building acts as a radiating source in CadnaA.

Geometry

The geometry of the CadnaB building is based on the modeling in CadnaB. The position of the CadnaB-Building in CadnaA is then defined via x/y center coordinate and a rotation angle (if required).

Directivity

see Receiver, Directivity

Interop

opens a table with the coordinates x/y/z/ground and calculation results (A-weighted sum level and - if any - third octave band spectrum) at all facade points. If the CadnaB-Building acts as a radiating source, the sound power levels in front of the facade transferred from CadnaB is shown in the column „Lw“.

Sync A->B

Clicking this button synchronizes the results of the calculation in CadnaA with CadnaB (export).

Sync B->A

Clicking this button synchronizes the data from the CadnaB project file with the current CadnaB building object in CadnaA (import).

Note

In both cases („Sync A->B“ and „Sync B->A“) the CadnaB project file/s does/do not have to be opened in CadnaB.

Regarding settings for automatic synchronization, see Options for CadnaB Interop.
