The following options are available:
| Option | Feature/s | Comment/Example |
| Type | The layer type „Simple“ is not available in conjunction with the line type „Cartographic“. | |

Options for Line Type „Cartographic“
Besides the options for line type „Simple“, the following further options are available for the line type „Cartographic“:
- Position (Center, Left, Right, Inside, Outside, Displaced): This setting determines the position at which the cartographic object will be drawn relative to the entered line geometry. By default, the option „Center“ is used causing the object to be drawn centered to line geometry (with the specified line width and pattern). The options „Left/Right“ refer to the relevant side with respect to the direction of input, the options „Inside/Outside“ to the inner or outer side of the object (i.e. disregarding the direction of input for line- and area-like objects). With position „Displaced“ selected a value may be entered (displacement in m or mm) by which the cartographic object is shifted relative to the entered lines geometry. Here, positive values result in a shift to the left, negative values in a shift to the right, both relative to the direction of input.

Selecting the line pattern at the bottom of the list
- Pattern: select line patternWhen selecting the line pattern at the bottom of the list the input box „Custom“ is available in addition enabling to enter a user-defined line pattern, combined from line and space segments. For example, the string „10 2 5 2“ defines a line consisting of:
- a 10 pt long line,
- a 2 pt long space,
- a 5 pt long line,
- a 2 pt long space.
- Start/End Caps: defines the cartographic representation of the initial or the ending tail of the line
- Dash Caps: defines the cartographic representation of the tails of intermediate sections of the linen (without Start/End Caps)
- Line Join: specifies how the individual segments of a line are joined. The type of „Line Join“ applies always outwards, i.e. depending on the selected position (Center, Left, Right, Inside, Outside, Displaced).
