CNOSSOS-EU (Railway)
Note
The following information applies to both the European calculation methods (EU-2015, EU-2021) and the country-specific implementations (e.g. CNS-DE-2018, CNS-DE-2021, RVE-2019, RVE-2022), see also Calculation acc. to ... in chapter CNOSSOS-EU. If any differences in country-specific implementations exist, this is explicitly mentioned.
Emission Parameter

Train Classes and Penalties
With this option activated, the types of trains and train classes, numbers of trains and corrections, can be edited locally, or an existing list with number of trains can be selected. CadnaA will automatically calculate the emission level from the specified values.
Type of TrackRailhead RoughnessNoise Reduction at RailBridge
Selection of Track Type, Railhead Roughness, Noise Reduction and Bridge, whereby the preceding abbreviation (e.g. „EU“ or „DE“) refers either to the European calculation method (EU-2015, EU-2021) or to a country-specific implementation (see also chapter CNOSSOS-EU).

Radius of Curvature & Anti-Squeal Measure
With activation of this option the correction for curved tracks and - if activated - Anti-squeal measures are considered in the calculation. The implemented corrections follow the European calculation method or the country specific implementation, depending on the selection in the Configuration of Calculations.
According to EU-2015, squeal contribution shall be applied on railway track sections where the radius is within the ranges mentioned above for at least a 50 m length of track.
Rail Joints (1/100m)
Specify the number of rail joints per 100 m track length. Example: A joint density of n_l = 0,01/m results in an input of 1 in the field Rail Joints (1/100m) in CadnaA.
Slab Track (Gs=0)
With this option active, a ground factor of Gs=0 is used for the track area. With the option inactive, the ground factor used for the track area depends on the settings on „Ground Absorption“ tab (see Ground Absorption Tab).
Local Train List
In order to select specific locos, cars, or train compositions these need to be defined in the local or global library (see Train Class Libraries).
vmax (km/h)
When specifying a track-relevant maximum speed vmax the train speed will be adjusted if necessary. In the calculation the smaller of both values is used.
Other railway-related noise sources
In EU-2015 states that various other railway-related noise sources like depots, loading/unloading areas, stations, bells, station loudspeakers, etc. can be present and that these sources shall be modeled, if relevant, by industrial noise sources.
Emission L'w
When selecting „Emission L‘w“ in the dialog of the rail, the emission can be entered directly. The emission parameter in CNOSSOS-EU is linear (unweighted) sound power level per unit length in third-octaves (for periods D/E/N).
Total-A
A-weighted sum level per period
Source Height
When specifying L‘w as emission parameter the source height will be at 0.5 m above railhead (see figure 2.3.a in EU-2015).
