Fill with Hatch Tab
The following options are available:
| Option | Feature/s | Comment/Example |
| Angle | specifies the hatching with respect to a reference line (in degrees), reference lines: |
|
| Distance | distance between hatch lines (in mm or m) | |
| Displacement | displacement (in mm or m) of the hatch lines with reference to the origin at (x,y)=(0,0) m | Positive values will shift the hatch lines to the left, negative values to the right, when looking from the start to the end point of the polygon. |
| Offset | offset of the hatch lines with reference to the origin | only relevant for hatch lines consisting of points/lines/points-lines |
| Shift | shift from hatch line to hatch line | as above |
| Clipping | When enabled, the hatching is clipped at the object‘s perimeter line. | This option prevents the hatching protrude beyond the object‘s perimeter. |
Examples
The following table shows different display options for area-like objects. For clarity, the direction of the hatching is highlighted by dashed lines. The origin is also highlighted.

![]() |
Filling with Hatch applying a cartographic line: Angle (to Y-Axis) 30° Distance (between hatch lines) 50 m Displacement 10 m Offset/Shift: 0/0 m Clipping: OFF |
![]() |
as before, but with a Shift <> 0 m (shift from hatch line to hatch line): Offset: 0 m Shift: 2.5 m Clipping: ON |
As for fillings of symbols, also for fillings with hatch distant from the origin the reference point for Angle, Distance, Displacement, Dist of, Offset, and Shift stays to be the origin.
