Consistency Check

Prior to the calculation of noise levels at receivers and/or prior to the grid calculation several input data is checked for consistency automatically.

The consistency check includes:

  • at receivers: option "Receiver is workplace at source" is activated, but no source assigned, and LpA > 0 dB(A)
  • at all receiver chains: check if height of chain points are equal to source height.
  • at all objects: points or polygon points are located within the room area (incl. the lower object heights zmin)
  • at line sources: 3D length >0 m
  • at line sources: check for too short segment lengths (warning if at least 0.5% of total length is invalid)
  • at area sources: base >0 m²
  • at box-type sources and box-type obstacles: height >0 m, base >0 m²
  • at barriers and vertical area sources: 2D-length >0 m, height >0 m
  • at obstacles: check for the frequency data missing in absorption, transmission, scattering spectra (with respect to the selected frequency range)
  • at obstacles: A message („scattering/transmission averaged“) will be displayed in case a frequency-dependent scattering coefficient and/or transmission factor is specified in conjunction with the option „generate particles per octave“ deactivated (see „Particle Model“ tab).
  • at obstacles: warning when using sound reduction indices >50 dB (checking per octave)
  • in case of a modified pattern in the ObjectTree root (group expression ! * changed)
  • for point sources and receivers in box-type objects
  • check for the frequency range of the absorption coefficient in the calculation of room acoustical quality criteria (see Configuration)
  • check within the RIR evaluation whether more than a single source is active
  • check whether particle model selected with scattering and/or transmission entered. With image source model a message appears with a reflection order >=1.
  • warning in case the range for level regression at receiver chains deviates from the specifications of guideline VDI 2569
  • warning with partial echogram calculations without valid point sources and receivers
  • for sources & obstacles: checks for validity of referenced library objects (for sound power, absorption, scattering coefficient, and transmission). With syntax errors occurring in references to spectra of objects the attribute is specified in the message (ALFAL, ALFAR, STREUL, STREUR, TRANSL, TEMI).
  • validity check for ID when selecting library spectra (sound power, absorption, scattering, sound reduction, product)
  • extended validity check for ID for selected library spectra (e.g. ID starting with a figure)
  • Warning at calculation of “receiver is workplace at source“ with LpA for a single source, if 0. order is not calculated with image sources.
  • Warning if grid height outside the surrounding room

If applies, the objects type and its name are displayed on the dialog Consistency Check.

Furthermore, with an ObjectTree been defined, it is checked whether

  • the root directory exists and if so, whether there is just a single root directory and whether it is located at the top of the group table,
  • the ObjectTree groups are listed consecutively in the group table (i.e. not interrupted by groups entered groups manually),
  • the ObjectTree groups are sorted correctly, and whether
  • the ObjectTree groups do not contain duplicates (no double group IDs).

In case one or more of the conditions above is not met, a message will appear prompting the user to correct for the error/s.

Dialog options

Editing of Objects

For editing double-click in a line of the list. This opens the respective object dialog. Alternatively, marking of a line can and clicking the button "Edit" opens the dialog as well.

Synchronize Graphic

Clicking this button centers the selected object on the screen. Alternatively, click into a line while holding the SHIFT key pressed.

Button "Continue"

continues with the calculation

Button "Cancel"

terminates the calculation

Time Out

By default, the Consistency Check dialog remains open for 2 minutes.

This timeout in seconds can be set within the section [CadnaR] of the CADNAR.INI file (see Edit INI-File), for example:

[CadnaR]
WarningTimeout = 5

default value 120 s, minimum value 2 s, maximum value 3600 s
