Rules for IDs

The Rules for IDs applicable in CadnaR will be enforced by the software starting with version 2026. From this version onward, only the characters A–Z, a–z, 0–9, and the underscore (“_”) will be permitted when entering IDs. When opening existing files, the software will automatically check and, if necessary, adjust IDs to comply with these rules. This ensures consistent and correct referencing of all objects. Transition to UTF-8

With CadnaR 2026, the software will transition to UTF-8 encoding. In most cases, no user action will be required. However, there are certain situations that may require attention...

  • when opening files that contain characters from other languages (e.g., Greek).
  • when using global libraries hosted on a server and accessed by multiple users.

  • New and improved documentation replacing the previous PDF manuals and the internal CadnaR help.
  • The new documentation is accessible via:

    • Clicking on Help buttons in dialogs (opens the relevant chapter)
    • Alternatively, key F1 can be used within CadnaR

  • Global search across the entire documentation is now available.

Features

  • New Filter function for tables. An arithmetic or string condition can be specified for each column. The search function has become obsolete due to the new filters and has therefore been removed.
  • Function Break into pieces with additional option "Do not split, just insert points".

  • ODBC/Excel import:

    • Attribute assignment is now handled via a freely configurable table. New rows can be added using Insert Before / After.
    • When importing objects with an ObjectTree prefix at the ID, the ini-entry ObjectTreeOdbcUseObjtreePart is now also considered for the Excel import.

  • For library entries with the same ID that are referenced by objects, the first entry is now always used.

  • The Customer number is now shown in the About dialog.
  • Display the file version in the dialog Project-Info

Bug Fixes

  • PlotDesigner: Correction in the appearance of symbols (for example, north arrow).
  • Modifications to the XHN import (directivity) to resolve issues with long comments and special characters.
  • Bugfix when loading .docx and .xlsx files at bitmap object.
  • Bugfix for accessing files in the directory C:\Users\AppData\Local\Datakustik (e.g. ini file, global library) when using a Windows username containing special characters or umlauts.
